It’s Her Foundation: Born from Pain, Built for Purpose

In 2022, It’s Her Foundation was born, not from a place of ease, but from deep pain, healing, and transformation.

For years, I was in a relationship that broke me down piece by piece. The kind of relationship that makes you question your worth, your voice, and your reality. Domestic violence isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s quiet control, manipulation, and fear. It can look like love on the outside and feel like survival on the inside.

When it ended, I didn’t walk away, he left me. And in that moment, as painful as it was, it became the turning point of my life. At first, I turned to drinking to numb the pain. It was my way of coping… a quiet cry for help. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t the path that would heal me. I realised that if I truly wanted to get better, I had to turn toward something that made me feel alive again. For me, that was movement. Exercise became my therapy, the space where I could rebuild strength, release emotion, and start to remember who I was.

That’s how It’s Her Foundation began, from the same tools that helped me get back on my feet and become the woman I am today. Our programs are built around three core pillars: Movement, Mindset, and Motivation.

  • Movement reconnected me to my body, helping me release trauma, rebuild strength, and feel safe within myself again.

  • Mindset helped me shift my story, from broken to becoming, from powerless to purposeful.

  • Motivation kept me moving forward, showing up each day, even when healing felt impossible.

These three pillars became my lifeline and now, they’re the foundation of how we support other women to rise, recover, and reclaim their lives.

Every project, every event, and every story shared through It’s Her Foundation carries that message, that your past doesn’t define you, your healing does.

As we honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’m reminded why this work matters so deeply. Because behind every statistic is a woman rediscovering her strength, and behind every act of kindness is hope being restored.

To every woman still finding her way, this foundation is for you.
It’s not just her foundation.
It’s our movement.
