How I Met the Powerhouse Candice at PAUSE Live and Why I Can’t Wait to Share Her Story
Last week, I attended PAUSE Live, the UK’s premier women’s health and wellness event, a day packed with inspiration, knowledge, and powerful connections. pauselive.com+1
Amid the buzz and energy, one conversation stood out above the rest, when I crossed paths with Candice Handrick, founder of Inner Girl Power. What began as a handshake turned into a deep dive into her mission, and by the end of our chat I knew I had to share her story with you.
The Moment I Met Candice
There she was in the exhibit hall, glowing with purpose, her presence magnetic. We struck up a conversation while browsing exhibitor stands, and I soon learned she’s not just another speaker at the event, she’s a force in her own right.
Candice’s confidence wasn’t just charisma. It came from lived experience, from digging deep into the challenges many women face during perimenopause and beyond. The more she shared her journey, the more I realised how vital her voice is and how many women haven’t yet heard it.
Who Is Candice and Why Her Work Matters
Candice Handrick is a certified personal trainer, nutritionist, and menopause coach. Her platform, Inner Girl Power, was born out of her own journey. At 42, she entered perimenopause, and despite her fitness background, she was confronted by confusion, misleading advice, and a lack of real support.
Rather than accept “just take HRT” as the default answer, Candice dug into women’s physiology, scientific research, strength training, nutrition, and bio-hacking strategies. She created Inner Girl Power to bridge the gap between women feeling lost and the medical support they deserve.
Her platform aims to give women over 40:
Clarity on what’s happening in their bodies
Practical tools and protocols (nutrition, strength training, supplements)
Support whether they choose to use HRT or not
Education grounded in real science, no fluff, no gimmicks.
What struck me most was how candid she was about her own journey, the setbacks, the questions, the “why is nobody telling us this?” moments. Because when someone has walked the path themselves, the guidance feels deeply rooted, real, and compassionate.
Why I Wanted to Share Her Story
We live in a world where women’s midlife issues, perimenopause, hormone shifts, metabolic challenges are too often whispered about, dismissed, or treated as mysteries. Yet the impact these have on energy, confidence, mood, weight, relationships, and identity is profound.
Meeting Candice affirmed something for me: we need bold voices like hers out in front. We need platforms that move beyond slogans and silver bullets, platforms that arm women with knowledge, strategies, and community.
I’m sharing her story because I believe others will find in her what I did: inspiration, validation, and a roadmap forward. If you’ve felt disoriented, unheard, or frustrated as your body shifts, you’re not alone. Candice is doing the work to change that.
A Few Takeaways from Our Conversation
Strength is non-negotiable. Candice believes the foundation of health in midlife is leaning into strength training (with care) - not cardio alone.
Knowledge gives you agency. When you understand the “why” behind what’s happening, options open up.
It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Whether or not you choose HRT, you can adopt strategies that support your body, that’s part of her philosophy.
Community matters. One of the most powerful things is connecting with others on the same path, sharing experiences, and learning together.

I’ll be keeping tabs on her work, trying out some of her methods, and sharing what resonates so stay tuned. In the meantime: if anything in your body or mind feels off lately, don’t ignore it. Sometimes the most transformative voices are waiting in the room beside you.
