A Day in the Life of a Professional Athlete: Behind the Scenes of the Training Grind
A professional athlete’s day is about much more than just the physical grind, it’s about mental preparation, consistency, and balance. Here’s a peek behind the curtain at a typical day in my life, where every moment counts as I balance training, business, and building my personal brand.
7:00 AM - Breath Work & Mental Focus
My day kicks off early with breath work to set the tone for the day. It’s essential for mental clarity and focus. This practice helps me center myself, clear my mind, and get into the right mindset before I dive into the intense training ahead.
10:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Boxing Training / Sparring
From 10 AM to 1 PM, I’m fully immersed in boxing. Whether it’s working one-on-one with my coach or sparring with other athletes, this is where I hone my skills, improve my technique, and build both strength and stamina. Boxing is as much mental as it is physical, and this chunk of the day is dedicated to pushing my limits and improving every session.
6:00 PM - Strength Training (Mon, Wed, Fri)
After a long day of boxing, I switch gears to strength training in the evening. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are all about building muscle and ensuring my body stays strong and resilient for the demands of both boxing and life. This training is key to enhancing my power and endurance in the ring.
Saturday - 5km Run & Sunday - Rest or Active Recovery
Saturday mornings start with a 5km run, which helps maintain my endurance. It’s a lighter day for active recovery and staying sharp.
Tuesdays - 12km Run
Tuesdays are reserved for my 12km run — a long-distance jog to keep my cardio levels at their peak. It’s a perfect way to build the stamina I need to stay competitive in the ring.
In Between It All: Business, Charity, & Personal Branding
In between training, I juggle running my business, managing a charity focused on empowering women from disadvantaged backgrounds, and growing my personal brand speaking all thing Women’s Health through social media and public speaking. It’s a constant balancing act, but it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to inspire others while also staying dedicated to my craft.
Every day is a grind, but it’s the discipline, the small victories, and the belief in the process that make it all worthwhile. The journey isn’t easy, but it’s a journey I’m proud to be on.
